Lesley University will be hosting a conference on Holistic Healing: Theories, Practices, and Social Change. It will begin on Friday night, October 25, with keynote addresses, discussions, and activities, and will continue all day Saturday, October 26, with numerous workshops.

Holistic Healing: Theories, Practices, and Social Change, edited by Peter A. Dunn, PhD was published June 2019 by Canadian Scholars Press. This textbook includes chapters on indigenous holistic healing, traditional holistic practices from around the world, Western holistic counseling, contemplative practices, bodywork, energy medicine, expressive arts, transpersonal healing, ecopsychology, and includes a chapter on Lesley University's impact in transforming university education. Lesley University has been a leader in promoting holistic healing programs since the early 1970s when it began offering master’s degrees in Expressive Arts Therapy, and in Counseling Psychology with a holistic orientation. Today Lesley University offers a variety of degrees focused on holistic healing at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels.

Inspired by this timely textbook and Lesley's integral role in developing holistic healing programs, we invite faculty, practitioners, internship supervisors, teachers, textbook authors, and other holistic-minded professionals from Lesley and the local community to this free two-day conference where members of Lesley and the local community can share their unique experiences and expertise with each other. We extend a special invitation to those whose approaches integrate holistic healing and wellness with social change as well as individuals whose cultural experiences and backgrounds are informed by these holistic practices and the vibrant traditions that surround them.
